IdaFrosk, whose real name is Ida Skivenes, is Norwegian, but lives and works in Berlin.
Some people might make themselves a cup of coffee, a slice of toast, a bowl of cereal or bacon and eggs for their daily breakfast. IdaFrosk, on the other hand, chooses this magic moment of her day to let her creativity run free and spend 5 to 30 minutes creating fleeting, but wonderfully imaginative masterpieces.
Did your parents teach you not to play with your food? She takes on the exact opposite view! Her kitchen is her theater – the plate is the stage where she expresses herself. Vegetarian food is her primary source of inspiration: she assembles various elements in order to draw attention away from the way they are customarily used, and gives them new life in pieces of food art, which are seen throughout the world.
She snaps a picture of every dish with her smartphone, before publishing it on social media, feeding her numerous fans a delicious daily dose of culinary humor.
Ida Frosk : « I believe that food should be fun, tasty and for the most part healthy. […] Food art has become a creative outlet for me to play with healthy ingredients and my favorite meal, breakfast. […] The ‘Art Toast Project’ consists of edible remakes of major works by famous artists, using a piece of toast as the canvas. The idea was based on the literal interpretation of ‘food art’ and the desire to make art more accessible.»
